Protolabeo protolabeo, a new genus and a new species of labeonine fishes from southwest China (Teleostei, Cyprinindae).Abstract：
A new Labeonine genus, Protolabeo, was described based on the specimens from the Yilihe River, a small tributary of upper Changjiang River drainage in Yunnan Province, Southwest China. It can be distinguished from all other known genera of the Labeoninae by having only middle of the upper jaw+upper lip covered incompletely by rostral fold, the surface of rostral fold flat; the primary disintegration between upper lip and upper jaw, and lower lip and lower jaw. The new species, P. protolabeo, differs from all known species in Labeonini by having generic characteristics.
