Pelasgus, new genus, is established for the small cyprinids of the Balkan Peninsula earlier placed in Pseudophoxinus. The type species is P. laconicus. Pelasgus is diagnosed by the modified pectoral fin of the male and the genital papilla not enlarged in female.
