A New Species in Cave of Blind Sinocyclocheilus from Yunnan, China (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).Abstract :
A new species named Sinocyclocheilus aquihornes Li et Yang sp. nov. is described. The new species belongs to Sinocyclocheilus, the blind loach. Type speicmens: No. 060512001, standard length 62mm, total length 80 mm, was collected on May 12, 2006 cave of Qiubei County (24°30'N, 104°03'E) in Yunnan Province, and kept in Heilongtan Reservoir of Shilin Yunnan, China. Description: D, iii-7; A, ii-5; P, i-9; V, i-6. Branched caudalfin rays 14. Gill-rakers 8. Latteral line scales 36. Pharyngeal teeth 3 rows, 2.3.4/4.3.2. The ratio of standard length to body depth is 3.54, to head length 3.54, to length of caudal peduncle 5.17, to depth of caudal peduncle 12.4; the ratio of Head length to its depth is 1.34, to head wide 2.19; the ratio of head length to mouth wide isn 3.5, to mouth length 4.38; and the ratio of depth of caudal peduncle to its length is 2.4. Diagnosis: the new species is similar to S. hyalinus Chen et Yang (1994), but differs from the latter in shape aquiline of head, lateral line scales 36, Vs 9-11, ect. A Comparison of 8 species is made as well.
