Lebiasina ortegai (Characiformes: Lebiasinidae), nueva especie, sistema del rio Cauca, Colombia.Abstract
Lebiasina ortegai sp.nov., from a tributary of Río Las Cañas, Río Cauca System, Florida, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Lebiasina ortegai, as L. yuruaniensis, are different from other species of the genus by presenting a phenotypic transformation of seven stages, beginning at 42 mm and finishing at 125 mm LT, where its typical colour is achieved, and having 26-29 (26/1-27/9-28/4-29/2) scales in lateral line. The height of the body is less than the length of the head. The eye diameter is less than a fifth part of the head length. It has also a black band in the dorsal fin base, and a wide black line beginning with a black point similar to the eye in the upper part of the operculum and ending in the middle part of the caudal fin with a black oval point. It finally has three lines of yellow points in the horizontal sides. The posterior part of the maxilary is different to other species of Lebiasina. The dentary, articular, otolits, and the form of the neural spine are characteristics of this species. Vertebrae 36.
