Two new catfish species of the genus Amblyceps from Manipur, India (Teleostei: Amblycipitidae)Abstract
Amblyceps torrentis and A. tuberculatum, new species, are described from Chindwin basin in Manipur, India. Amblyceps torrentis is similar to A. apangi and A. murraystuarti in general appearance. However, it differs from A. apangi in having equal jaws length and a smaller distance between eye and nasal barbel base. It differs from A. murraystuarti in presence of complete lateral line and equal jaw length. Amblyceps tuberculatum differs from A. mangois and A. arunachalensis in presence of a lateral line and from A. carinatum in having a wider interdorsal length and a longer adipose dorsal base.
